OK Now what do I do?

I have an 81 3/4 ton,and am trying to get the windshield installed.

I have the glass, rubber seal, and the trim that slips into the rubber channel. What do I do first?

Do I put the rubber into the cab,and then the glass, then the trim?

Or put the rubber on the glass, then put it in the truck?I am having trouble getting the rubber to stretch over the glass.

I have put several sliders in the back with the rubber on the window, and just pull the rubber around the cab.Do I use the same procedure in this case?

I would like to get this done today,or tomorrow,so all help is appreciated.I wish I had taken this class in school,DOH!

TIA

I'm not a pro, but I would put the rubber around the glass first, put some sealant around the outer edge of the opening rim. Next I would lay the windshield with the rubber installed in position on the cavity just as it would sit naturally. Next, you may need a special tool to pull the inner lip of the winshield rubber onto the rim of the cavity probably starting at the top, and using the special tool work your way around the windshield. after installing the windshield I would snap the trim into the groove made for it. Me I'm no mechanic, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night!! marvxyz

I new a guy that had this company put in a new windshield in his truck. When he picked up the truck and was driving home he had to stop at a stop light and the darn windshield fell out onto the hood. Needless to say, he went back to the dealer with the windshield laying in the bed and told them what happened. You will not believe what they told him. They said it was not their falt. They told him the reason the windshield fell out was because "he stopped too fast". So I guess you should stop slowly with a new windshied install. Pardon the french.

Got mine put in a few minutes ago,and it wasn't too bad.The next one will be easier
Used a hook I made out of a welding rod,and just kinda zipped it in place.

You're supposed to tie the windshield in with the rope.

We used to use the thin braided rope from an old venetian blind (about 1/8" diameter or so) on VW Beetle windshields. It's definitely a 2-man job. One pushes from the outside while another pulls the rope from the inside. Lubrication is a must. Otherwise it might not seat correctly (and maybe pop out under stress?). KY jelly works well, and rinses off with water.
