Rear view mirrors

I'm writing my parts list and a new interior rear mirror is on it.

Is just a new one from LMC or brothers the best way to go or is there an aftermarket mirror that looks and works better?

I tend to lean NOS but maybe theres something better than i dont know about?

Re: Rear view mirrors

Go to the junk yards, and look for large buicks, olds, caddys, and even pontiacs from the late 60's and early 70's. They have the same style mirrors as we do, without the gay rubber edge, and the reflective surface doesn't crinkle off like ours does.
The stainless is always nice and bright too.

Re: Rear view mirrors

Most of the vendors have the same rear view mirror for sale. I have a '67 and it is quite a bit different than what was original (somehow misplaced it a decade ago so I couldn't reuse it). The ones for sale from the vendors have mounting holes for one on top-two on the bottom, whereas the original was in the two-one configuration. I am not sure what your '69 had, so I can't give you complete info, but you should be able to find it in your assembly manual (definately add that to your shopping list!) The vendors also sell a vinyl wrapped bracket cover version (billed as deluxe) that will cover your mounting screws. However, I am very displeased with the one we got because the cover does not suck up to the ceiling properly, and there is a big ol' gap that looks like crap. Keep that in mind. If I could do it again, I probably would have tried for a '72 windshield and gone that way.
