LS 5.3 swap. 86 C10

Hi All,

Finally going to start the LS swap process but before I do I have a couple of questions. Donor will be a 01-04 LS 5.3.

- What motor/trans mounts to use (easy/best recommend)?
- Do I have to replace the oil pan and if so (Holley Retro fit) ok ?
- Source/reference recommended to modify engine harness?
- Stock Headers ok or will I have to go with alternatives?

Thanks all

Re: LS 5.3 swap. 86 C10

I used ebay adapter plates that locate the back off the engine in the same place..I used my stock trans crossmember but did have to relocate it..but mine is manual shift...
i used the stock truck oil pan..it doesn't hang below the frame..some guys setups do ...its more of a issue if your lowered..
there's lots of writeups on harness mods and people that offer the service...several on ebay..I used psi harness on mine...
hooker makes a swap header and some others make them as well now...I think ls3 manifolds will work but not sure...at the time i did mine nobody made anything for the swap and I had to do some frame mods when I did mine

Re: LS 5.3 swap. 86 C10

I am also going to be swapping a 86. I have bought the tejas steel works mounts as i have read they place the engine higher to use the stock oil pan for better clearance. You can look up lt1swap.com for wiring info as that is what im using, they spell everything out for you and make it easy but it is not an over night project. After some research im going to use the stock truck manifold on the driver side and an fbody manifold on the passenger side. Good luck and post up some picks as you go.

Re: LS 5.3 swap. 86 C10

I used adapter plates, truck oil pan, stock relocated th400 crossmember, stock wiring modded per LT1SWAP.COM instructions, LS3 exhaust manifolds Very easy swap. If you are going to lower the truck, you will want a new oil pan. I have a CTS-V ready to go in.
