Rear wiring harness.....with trailer adaptor?

Is this a "suck it up and make it" or does someone already?

If not that - who makes the best "rear only wiring harness"

looking at this so far at gmcpauls...

*ouch*?

Or is this plug and play goodness for a C note?

You can also splice a four way trailer harness into the stock wiring easily. That's how I have mine setup in both the car and pickup. Costs about $8 for a 36" vehicle side four way harness.

Re: Rear wiring harness.....with trailer adaptor?

he plug and play sure would be nice though and it should eliminate the little shorts that always seem to show up with the 8.00 setup. Over the past 40 years I can't begin to count the number of trailer wiring hookups I have troubleshot or cut out of the truckcar and started over.

We could probably hold a "look at the basket of snakes I cut out of the back of my truck" contest and have some real winners from when guys first bought their trucks.

Re: Rear wiring harness.....with trailer adaptor?

Save yourself the $ on the adapter...

you can find the hoppy brand (plug and play for our trucks) on ebay for about $10 shipped - or even at your local autozone store for a bit more...

I got one off ebay last year for about $10-13 shipped. I can grab the exact model off of it when I get home if need be.

Re: Rear wiring harness.....with trailer adaptor?

i had a problem with the hoppy brand. there was a short inside the adapter that when I stepped on the brakes, the headlights would come on. really weird. tried on 2 different ones and it did the same thing. finally made my own and haven't had a problem since.

Re: Rear wiring harness.....with trailer adaptor?

The $29.95 trailer wiring harness adapter is an exelent part manufactured by M&H electric. For one it is made in the USA and secondly it has the factory style soft rubber plug ends. They seal up tight as a drum and you do not have to cut up your wiring (opening it up to the eliments) The Hoppy brand is better than cutting up your harness, but doesn't seal as well as the rubber ones do. JMO
I have installed several of the M&H brand trailer harnesses and other than the initial first run of harnesses, haven't had any problems. WES

Re: Rear wiring harness.....with trailer adaptor?

Yeh I had 2 Hoppys on mine, one for trailer lights and the other for my led bar and they would eventually come loose and I would be without tail lights going down the highway,

Re: Rear wiring harness.....with trailer adaptor?

chrislehr the one you see on our site is plug-n-play, they are made as Wes said by M&H wiring in the USA from a rubberized plug in just like your original harness plugs so they seal the elements out extremely well and stay connected. The Hoppy brand is a hard plastic plug that does not seal well and will allow your terminals to corrode over time, altough you can try sealing them with a sealant or tape to help increase the Hoppy brands longevity somewhat.
