transmission oil leak

well the truck has not moved, let alone started in 3 weeks. this morning I go in the garage and smell this funny smell, looking around and finnally under the truck and there is tranny fluid under the truck. maybe about 2 to 3 ounces and dripping from the pan contact to the body of the tranny, how can this be? and to top it off on this story the tranny did this last year also without movement for weeks. I know for a fact there was no tranny oil on the floor yesterday after work because I was in the garage for about 2 hours. I can add that the only thing I can think of is can cool weather have anything to do with this? the tranny is a 700R and the oil is leaking from the tranny oil pan but why does it not leak all summer long?
