Do you have a good filter installed, could be dirt,or maybe a needle valve sticking.

The dirt and needle valve are very possible. It currently has the glass bowl filter setup located just before the carb. I've already installed a new gas tank and the fuel line that runs from the pump to the carb. Still some particles are showing up in the glass bowl after several cleanings. It only happens once in great but would hate to have a engine fire. Maybe replace the glass bowl filter setup with a modern style filter?

Carb Troubles

Any words of advise on a carb problem? I have a 58 Chevy Apache that I have replaced the float and rebuilt the carb (single barrel rochester). Made all adjustments correctly, truck idles and runs great. Once in a about every 30 times starting the truck, it idles very fast and gas will pour from the carb body. Take it apart, check all adjustments (fine), starts right up, runs great. Very unexplained and upredictable. Any advise??
