BBC Crankshaft pully question

I found one today that was two piece but the front pully was broken. Is it the same as on a sbc? Or where can I get just the outer one.

(If this is a dumb question it is because I have no experience with BBC parts.)

The pulleys are not the same. Do you have a short water pump setup or long? Also, is your pully that you need cast or stamped?

Chevelle/Camaro BBC pullys should work for you. Ground Up Restorations is one source. BBC pulley PN ACP-844 (short water pump).

Here is a link.

I am not sure it came of a 71-72 suburban. I do not know how to tell the difference between cast and stamped. I would say it was whichever one is the weaker of the two. The pully cracked and broke at the bolt attachement point I guess due to overtightening.

Cast is like an engine block - stamped is like a water pump pulley

Then it is stamped. The lower pully is called the crankshaft pully right?

It is called the crank pulley. Ground Up also has the second outer pulley in a stamped version if your inner pulley is still good.

If it's just cracked, it can easily be welded.

Those pulleys are pretty hard to find nowdays. It would be worth the effort to repair it.
