Ordering Wheels, What back spacing are you guys using?

Hello Guys,

I am needing a little help! I have a 1968 short fleet that I am going to turn into my daily driver. I ordered a 4/6 drop kit as well as a frot disk brake upgrade kit from Early Classic Ent. My question is about wheels. I am staying with the factory 6 lug rear and adding 6 lug disk up front. I am going to order a set of 15" smoothies and was wondering if any one could help me out with the amount of backspacing I should go with? I am going with 15x10 rears and 15x8's up front. Advise and pics would be a great help!!!!

I just completed the set up you have on my 69 GMC. I used Summit Legend six spoke wheels (six lug) 17 x 8 with 4.5 in. back spacing all around. However, to move the rear wheels out, I used 1.5 in. wheel spacers on the rear for a net back spacing of 3 inches. My truck is only lowered 2 1/2 in. front and 3 in. in the rear. If you lower yours more than 3 in. in the rear, you may need to go a little more narrow in the rear than I did. I have attached a pic. Oh, I just noticed you are going with 15 x 10 wheels in the rear. The 4.5 in. back spacing should be fine without the spacer.

4"-4.25" on the front with 15x8. 5"-5.5" bs on the 15x10 rear should be about right.

Hopefully someone can chime in here and confirm that.

By the way Dale,

I love your build, I am contemplating running those same wheels on mine but may go with the gray painted centers! I was leaning towards the steel smoothies just because of pricing. Eventually I would like to paint my truck a flat gray color and go with red interior. I think a set of red smoothies would be killer as well as the summit wheels.

Wow! I never thought about the Red and Gray color theme, I think that would look killer!

Yea I think that it would be perty cool. Honda has a new color on their 1300cc VTX Choper looking bike that is a flat gray. I am thinking about going with that color but I will have it mixed because Honda does not have any paint codes.
