1970 Custom 10.

I have the floorboard high beam selector, and it seems to have 3 instead of the usual 2 settings.

It has parking lights, low beam, and high beam.

Let me tell you, when going 70 on a highway at night, hitting the "parking light only" one was a true shocker. Is this normal, or is mine jacked?

Also - on the doors. We cannot lock them, then close. We HAVE to close, then use a key to lock.

Is this the norm on both? Anyone?

These trucks require a key to lock the doors. I guess too many people were locking the keys in their trucks? As for the floorboard switch, I've never heard of one that operates parking lights. I think you have a short/bad ground, something wrong electrically. Someone else will chime in with more info I'm sure.

The door locks are normal.The lights on mine did the same but intermittently.I replaced the dimmer switch and everything worked(not the door locks).

the dimmer switch has been altered or screwed up. just swap it out and you will have it fixed. as for the door locks i believe that it was later models that worked that way. to slow a on the keys

Cool, adding dimmer switch to the shopping list. I found a bunch of wires hanging under a bumper too for the lights/towing and now I am thinking a new wiring harness really might not be a bad idea at all!
