Re: Amps & temp guage help

If original, look on the drivers side head between the first and second ehaust port. (assuming small block here) There should be a sensor there, and there should be a green wire on it. That is the temp guage. If it is plugged in, follow the green wire, it's probably broken, they commonly melt on headers or manifolds.
Your Amp guage probably just needs fuses. Look on either side of the engine compartment, you should see small black rubber fuse holders... look at those fuses, one or both are probably blown.

Re: Amps & temp guage help

Thanx longhorn Man! Today while I was inspecting my motor I saw the senser you speak of by the second spark plug drivers side. I then found the wire going to the fire wall disconnected. Since they run through the firewall on the wire harness I would imagine that they hook up to the dash through its harness (not externally on the back of the guages). Because I can see there are no wires hooked to the back of the guages except for the speedometer & oil pressure line. I guess you learn something new everyday! I have spent a while wondering where the wires went for the temp, amps & dummy lights. Which by the way I havent seen one of them light up even on startup. Lots of things to figure out you guys really rock!

Re: Amps & temp guage help

The only one that should light up is the brake light. The temp light is just along for the ride.
