6L80 trans with a NP205?

Anyone done this in a 67-72? I know Speartech did a 2wd in a 2001, but has anybody heard of this swap?
It would be pretty cool having a 6 speed auto with a 5.3 gen111 in a 67-72 4x4 with like 4.10 gears! Gas mileage and power!

Re: 6L80 trans with a NP205?

i don't know anything about these cases, but if they have a 32 spline output shaft with a round pattern on the tailhousing, then it could be made to work.

If the 6L80E bolts to a 32 spline NP241 then it can be done with a late-model NP205 with same pattern/spline count.I don`t know what`s in the late trucks,though.
