69-70 grill shell + grill what's it worth

So last night I went to buy a set of E rated tires for my 2500 ram from a fella off of kijiji (like Craigslist)

I buy the tires and then being guys we carry on and I end up showing him some pictures of my old truck. He says hang on a minute climbs in his attic and brings out a 69 outer grill shell and inner grill they're brand new never been on a truck and are in geneal motors boxes, the old fella said he bought them in 1983 for his project and never used them they've been in his attic since.

I pretty much had butterfly's when he pulled these boxes down with 20 years of dust on them. My dilemma is that I have a 70 truck which the previous owner put 71-72 shell and grill in, and I honestly prefer the 71-72, however I don't think ill ever find another find like this. And because my truck is a 1970 it would be more original to switch it back.

I can get the outer shell and inner grill for 600$, is this reasonable for this item? If I decide i want to keep the 71-72 setup would I have any issues getting my money back?

I don't think I have to worry about these as they're in GM boxes but is there a specific way to be 100% sure these are originals?

Thanks guys

Dude, you do realize that to buy an outer and inner grille with the Chevrolet letters across the front is going to run like $1,400 plus tax and a bunch for shipping since its large and fairly heavy? Buy it. If nothing else, you can sell it and turn a profit. You are one of the few I've heard of that likes a 71-72 grille more than a 69/70. Bet you'd feel different once you get it installed.

classic parts has a GM lettered grille for 499.95 they claim is from original tooling and not a repop.

John, Thank you! Just saved me a bundle. Most guys on ebay are trying to get $600-$800 for one with shelf wear and scratches. Just ordered this one up for $499. Hope it looks good!

Did you receive the Grill?
How close to the OEM is it?
Can you post pics?

Thanks
