will a camaro rearend

new to forum. love it.
just had a question about rearends that fit in 64-66 trucks. i have the chance to purchase a latemodel camaro rearend with disk brakes on it. it is 60" wide outside hub to outside hub. i know i will probably have to do some modifications on something, truck or rearend.
what is your opinion. has anyone ever tried this?
thanks

Re: will a camaro rearend

Welcome aboard !!!

Installing that rear-end wouldn't be too big of a deal. First of all, you would obviously cut off all the Camaro suspenion mounts. Next you would fab up or remove the mounts from the old rear end and weld them on to the new rear-end.

Just make sure everthing is centered, and installed CORRECTLY.

If your runing a stock suspenion, then a track bar mount will also have to be made up.

Next, your brake system will also need attention to accomadate those rear disks

Good Luck with it...and have a fun !!!

Re: will a camaro rearend

i almost bought a used 64' long bed when I was looking for my first 60s truck. The PO had installed a camaro rear end with discs. It was nice, you have to cut the mounts off and weld new ones on (available in a kit at many vendors). You'll also have to get new wheels (or adapters) and you may or may not have to mess with backspacing. Good luck
