Caddy troubles

in light of recent occurances I was wondering just what kind of things I should look out for with the Caddy swap. I dont want to have any troubles whatsoever after the thing is in & running. is there some secret mod for the oiling system? valve train issues? bearing clearance recommendations? anything? I much rather spend the time & money up front if at all possible. I am planning a complete rebuild of the 472. it is intended to be a daily driver with about 60% of its life being on the highway. I was thinking of a gear in the 2.56 range behind the TH400 to keep RPMs near 2500 @ 75 MPH. does this sound crazy?? I prefer to stay away from an overdrive because of the trouble I see with them. (I work on motorhomes) I want fuel mileage.
any & all feedback is appreciated.

They run for miles and miles as daily drivers in the original cars.....not really anything special to know.....they don't like rpms though. They were designed as a low rpm engine. You choice of gear should work fine.

I'd think that gear would net you less RPMs...I spin those rpms with a 3.07 gear

A bone stock Cad is all out of revs around 4800- 5000......yes they will rev higher, but trust me on the broken valve spring issues around 5400-5500 revs......been there & done that that old 425 Cad didnt run too d@mn bad in my longhorn, on a 28" tire, a 3.40 screw, & 2200-2300 stall. i really wanted the big inch Caddy.......price of that build was YIKES tho!
