1200.00 gm crate motor?

still looking for a motor, has anybody had any experience with this motor, i.e. reliability, performance, warranty. im not looking to make my truck a hotrod, just something dependable that looks stock. (71 swb c10 black and white with 6 banger powerglide)

Thats what I'm planning on putting in my 67 this spring.
Just a plain, ordinary, stock, dependible motor.

I've heard nothing but good results from these units.

Cheaper than having a shop do a rebuild...

When my engine gives it up that is what I plan on doing. Maybe a ZZ4 or something mild not too radical. I don't think you can beat it for the price and quality, imo.

I have one, it's a GREAT engine. absolutely no complaints with it... I might be gettign rid of it in favor of a midly built 383, but for what it is, it works fantastically...

That is what I put in my sons 65 impala (283 toasted). When you get it you will need the oil filter adapter, along with all of the other extra's you will be looking at around $2600-2800 dollars because you won't have anything off the 6cycl to put on it. Items harmonic damper, flex plate, starter, fuel pump, water pump, distributor, intake, carb, air cleaner, headers, gaskets and pulleys brackets. Some of the price can be shaved by using the parts board pieces.

Is this 1200 motor p/n 10067353? Scoggin-Dickey has it listed for $1280. The hp is listed @ 249hp and 304ft/lbs torque That's w/ cast iron intake, HEI, q-jet and open headers. For $1970 you can get the above w/ aluminum intake, 625 CFM carter, Mallory HEI distributor makes 265 hp w/ same open headers.

I have one and like it. I also like it because it also seems fairly inexpensive to get it over 300 hp as well. Some vortec heads and a bit meaner cam you will be set.

I've had a few of them with no complaints. Should fit the bill just fine.
