hiyas folks.

I have a '65 c10 - and recently I found out(a few days ago) that the 60-66 trucks did not have the button for the hazard lights on the column - but the 67-72's did/do.

So, it appears I have a later column in my truck... go figure - everything else is a different year so it fits with the motif.

Anyhoo's - I am trying to figure out which of the wires coming from the steering column is the wire for the hazard switch ?

The switch doesn't do anything at the moment, I thought I'd try to figure out how to make it flash...

Anyone have a good idea on what flasher to get to go inline on the wire?

Since the 4 way flasher setup uses the turn signal wiring to direct the power to the front and rear lights, I have to believe that the (4) way switch is powered off of the flasher. I would think that there is only one wire from the flasher up to the flasher switch which distributes the power to the front and rear lights through the turn signal wiring.

I think the brown wire is the one I'm looking for.

I've been told to find a 12v source on fuse block - then wire that to wire with a flasher unit inline.

My question to the masses here... if I walk into Advance Auto Parts and try to buy a 12v flasher... they will ask, what year, make, model..e tc..

So... jes' get a '67-72 one? Is there maybe a simpler one out there...?

I wired it up using a 552 flasher from advance... and put a 20 amp inline fuse in with it, just in case I did some goofy. So far it flashes great.

a good tip I didn't read until after I was done:

GO IN TO YOUR LOCAL PARTS STORE AND PICK UP A HEAD LIGHT PLUG AND A FLASHER . THE FLASHER WILL PLUG RIGHT INTO IT

anyway, I included those threads for in the future when someone else is searching and finds this post they can check those out for more info.
