Fuel Tank Question

I am wondering the pros and cons of poly tanks vs aluminum. I know poly tanks are less money, but how well do they hold up over time vs aluminum?
Anybody have long term experience with either?

Re: Fuel Tank Question

Uhh, you got any lawn equipment? Just about every mower or other powered piece of lawn stuff has a poly tank. My DR Field and Brush mower can even be upgraded with a larger one....hmmm, wonder, nah.

I have accused the poly tanks of attacting moisture, but it's really the fault of the cap and where we park 'em. After all, how can anything get into the tank, regardless of what it is made from, unless there's a hole...other than the filler?

Re: Fuel Tank Question

Most OEM's have been using plastic gas tanks for years now.
No prob and easy to repair with a heat welder.

Re: Fuel Tank Question

Thanks, I was thinking about getting the poly tank and getting the one out of the cab. Just wanted to know if there are any drawbacks.
