What are you wanting to get done on your truck this coming weekend

I sit here about two hours before my normal 3 day weekend starts. I have all these plans going through my mind on "what I want to accomplish on my truck projects this coming weekend.
For starters on my 68 project short/step side, 1 ton dually I am wanting to pull the front sheet metal as well as the cab so I can shorten 60 off the frame. I then want to finish welding the cab roof/back and start smoothing out the graft.
Not sure if I will get that all done, but if I do, I also have new tie rod ends and power steering brackets that need installed on a 63 GMC 1/2 ton short/fleetside I am working on.
My thinking on starting this thread is it would be kinda cool if "we all" could use this as a place to put upcoming weekend plans in. After the weekend we can post pics of what if any progress was actually made. Heck you might even get more done than you think. I usually don't get quite as much done as I was hoping for but sometimes.
Maybe we can feed off each others progress and get inspired to get even that much more done. Who knows. It could happen.
Chime in, the more the merrier. Don't worry of even sweat that old "thread hijack" cliché. Almost like a little challenge to ourselves to get done what it was we "said" we wanted to get done.
Whattaya think. U in? I know I'm not the only one with plans for this weekend. Oh yeah, forgot, not everybody will have 82* weather this weekend. But still, you can get something done. Right? What?
The key to this thread being anything at all is to actually come back next week and tell us how much got done. Pics will be all the more better. Let's inspire each other. The challenge is out. Anybody got any more ambitious plans for the coming weekend?

I thought I was going to change the belt on my 68 yesterday.
327 V8 no power steering, no A/C
Should take about 5 min. Right?
WRONG!
Bottom alternator bolt is busted off in the exhaust manifold.
Now, my goal is:
* Degrease engine
* Remove manifolds
* Extract busted bolt
* Sandblast and coat manifolds
* Paint brackets and pulleys (Rust Tough Semi-Flat Black)
* Reinstall Manifolds, brackets & pulleys
* .....Replace the belt

I'm jealous of that 82* weather. 27 and snow flurries yesterday. And as far as this weekend, order some parts for the truck. Next weekend? Bring it home. We'll see how that goes.

Did the front springs and ball joints last weekend. Weather turned to crap and didn't get everything buttoned up and a test drive in. Still have to adjust the brakes and replace a couple of grease fittings.

Awesome. Just exactly what I had in mind. Now, the hard part, u gotta come back next week and tell us what you actually got done. Heck even ordering parts counts. Especially if it's cold. We do the polar opposite here. During the heat of the summer when you boys are digging in and getting it done, we don't hardly do nuthin.Too hot. 117* and humid. Stupid hot. My wife tells folks; "We moved to the Sun".

Primed the bedsides today. (Wow are they big!) This weekend I am going to finish block sanding all the bed parts, hopefully shoot the color next week. Wood floor is all done, just waiting to be assembled.

I've been collecting parts through the winter, waiting for spring. Cold weather didn't bother me when I was younger, but I now understand why old folks like to move to Florida!

It's supposed to warm up this weekend, if so, will get started sanding in preparation for paint next month.

I'd like to at least start a complete brake re-do on my '70.
While Im there, I've got a leaky left rear tire I can get fixed.
I'll need 2 more jack stands.
At least it's inside, unheated tho.

i WAS wanting to start removing the rusted out cab mounts and weld in the new ones......
i broke my leg (fibia) in two places so now im stuck looking at the new classic industries catalog and playing with my gauges since thats all i can do on the couch.

are you selling cab parts? i need the two floor sections by the kick panals from firewall to the rockers about 6" wide

Was going to pull the old block out of my truck and get ready to drop in the new, but rain is moving in. Not doing it in the rain. maybe I'll just get my oil pan on and finish the fuel line on the new engine.

Going to finish welding my floor pan this weekend and hopefully get the big hole above my heater motor in the firewall patched up. My welding skills this have proven lacking but I can't afford to pay someone to do it. I am managing to get lots of clean up and fixing done on my truck. Can't wait until April when the weather finally breaks and I can roll outside to get stuff done!

Probably won't get much done to the truck itself. I'm going to do some cleaning of the garage, hang the front sheet metal on the walls, throw away junk, and store the unwanted truck parts into my trailer along with the cherry picker that takes up too much space.

Front hubs have to come apart tomorrow to access the gravel shields for the brakes. Shop that last did an axle rebuild didn't tighten the mounting bolts enough and after a few thousand miles both sides fell out. One shield got mangled, the other one is hanging in there by the upper tabs. Same shop quoted me $300 to fix the problem... think I'll just do it myself, correctly this time! A bit unsure of how to make the mangled shield work again, but since you can't buy '72 4x4 shields any longer, I guess I'll figure that out tomorrow before putting that side back together...

im looking at this new American autowire kit I bought. want to install it this weekend. looks like it will take me about 3 years to finish. that's a lot of wires!!! will probably strip and paint interior of cab instead.

I guess I not only have my own to work on, but another one that has been getting my love and attention.
On my 69 Chevy C10, hopefully application of the LAST coat of varnish on the wood floor for the box, and if that happens earlier than planned, installation of the floor.
The pickup that actually lives in the garage where my floor is (72 Chevy K10)...just took the instrument cluster out and added a tach/vac gauge kit, ran the wiring for it, and drilled/tapped holes for dome light switches. Guess it depends on my wood floor, but I'm guessing the 72 will end up with working dome light switches for sure. As long as I get to Napa tomorrow, then I should have the rest of the fittings for the tach/vac conversion and have that done. Now I would hope that ambition may be high enough to pull the seat out of that one and replace the fuel sending unit...guess time and help will determine that!

I plan on pulling the Dog House off... Fit and Align the Doors, install the basic door latches in for fitment and alignment... Pull the engine and Transmission to prepare it to go to Patterson Racing to be built... Drill side molding trim holes... Reinstall the Dog house and take it to the body shop for some minor "tweaking" if the cab to doors...

It is to be 72 here Saturday and 70 on Sunday so I should be able to get alot accomplished...

Well I don't have a 3 day weekend but I do have tomorrow off and start night shift Sunday night so I have some time on Sunday to.

I want to get passenger side done. So I can drive the truck to work Sunday night. I need the cab corner speaker grill cut and installed and then the passenger side seat installed. I got the drivers side done yesterday.
This is the second time to install them. I had to get new carpet installed since I had to move the gear shifter forward about 6" so the new console would fit. Yesterday was sub box, corner speaker, and seat and belts all installed.

After weekend after weekend of other things ruining my plans for a little wrenching, it happens this weekend!!

Having bought my 72 K2500 in November, it's been a reliable daily driver. But I've not spent the time to crawl over and under it and just see exactly what I'm dealing with in detail.

Also, shorten the steering column so my gut doesn't constantly rub the wheel. Oil/filter/lube. Replace the belts (one squeaks on cold start). Rip the old foam and upholstery off the original seat, clean and paint the frame, and store it properly awaiting a new foam and upholstery kit. Figure out exactly what I need to have a working parking brake. And spend some time on my back seeing how bad the cab rot is. So far, floorboards and rockers are a loss, but the corners seem solid.

And if I have the time and can convince the wife to help, flush the brake lines with new fluid.
