Weird switch on trans

My 71 C10 has a weird-looking switch on the transmission by the 2-3 lever? Is this one of those switches that changes the spark advance in 3rd gear?

Re: Weird switch on trans

If the state of Ohio does not have any smog inspections just remove the wire. It was GMs attempt in the early days to help with the NOx emissions by not allowing any timing advance until you were in high gear. The automatics has a pressure switch on the pass side that did the same thing
