Does AM radio display light up?

Is the display on a pushbutton AM radio on a 68 C-10 supposed to light up with the dash lights? If so, what kind of bulb do I need and how much trouble is it to replace it? The heater display lights up, but the radio does not. Thanks.

Re: Does AM radio display light up?

IIRC it's a pull out push on socket in the back of the radio. I'll double check the one I have in the garage.

For some reason the site wouldn't let me download two pics at a time.

I not positive, but I think it comes on when you turn the radio on. I've had mine off for several years. Maybe someone else can verify.

Re: Does AM radio display light up?

It only comes on when you turn it on. If you want it to come on with the dash lights just cut the wire off from the radio leaving it atached to the light socket and wire the socket to the wire that goes to the heater control panel light. I did this in my green and white a few years back when I had a cd head unit mounted to the base of the dash and left the am radio still installed to look factory and still light up.
