Opinions on rear sport bumpers

I am looking to install a new rear sport bumper on my recently converted '69 C20 to C10.
Wondering if there is any difference in suppliers of these after market bumpers. I have seen some brand new just installed bumpers and the chrome looks really bad, then others the chrome is high quality.

Also what bracketry will I need to complete this, since mine was a C20 with a dock bumper I am assuming that all the brackets are different.

Any advice on companies to deal with or to stay away from is appreciated.

I've got a pair for a customers truck. They came from Goodmark, and have Tri-Plus stickers on the backside. They are NICE.

You will need new "sport bumper" brackets.
I ususally try to buy them off the board, in the classified section.
They are also available as a reproduction item.
I got my bumper from Classic Parts of America,... because they are fairly local, and I could drive there and pick it up.
(avoiding shipping charges)
I would search for a company located in CA.
Maybe ECE.

If you want best fit and quality I would get a rechromed GM bumper. Most chrome places have them in stock

Thanks for the replies guys, I looked at both ECE and Goodmark.

Goodmark had "good" and "show" quality bumpers brackets were extra
ECE has a bumper kit with all brackets included
Looks like it is going to be $300 or more any way I look at it.

I like samey's idea of a re-chromed one and it has me thinking that there is a truck junk yard here in San Diego that has several selections of these trucks left. I might talk to my chrome guy and see how much he charges to re-chrome one. That way I would get an OEM bumper and might save some $ but then again maybe not. I will check into it tomorrow.

I'd be really interested in how much your chrome guy comes back at...but assume it will be well over 300....because of EPA laws of recent years....I got a couple estimates for chroming a smoothed bumper and they were 600-1000 shipped to me Couldn't justify that for a chromed original. The tri plus triple nickel plated ones are the nicer of the aftermarket ones I've seen and have a three yr chrome warranty and can be had for 185....and you'll have to buy the brackets either way....

Mike, where is that truck yard you're talking about? I'm in Mission Valley.

I'd plan on spending a good 1/2+ day hitting up the SoBay wrecking yards. Start east of 805 on Main St. and work your way up the hill "past the Knotts Water park" to the Browsfield junk yards.. There has to be about 100 yards. Some, wont tell you whats in the yard, you have to pay 1.00 and theyll let you in, cheap generic prices, u pull your own parts..

Rechroming an OEM bumper will cost WAY more than buying a new one, especially here in Calif. I bought my repop rear sport bumper from Brothers a couple yrs ago. Fit and finish was perfect. It was one of the few parts they actually had in stock

The salvage yard I was talking about was Truck Specialities on slaughter house canyon rd in lake side. Last time I was there they had a couple 67-72 trucks in the yard.

As far as chrome prices goes I was just basing it on my side pipe cost, the 90* that connect to the main tubes I custom made and had them chromed, they are about 4" diameter and are about 3' in length each one. Together they cost $150 to chrome. Figured there is not that much more surface area on a bumper.
