Lousy chrome bumper

I had a fairly new front bumper and this winter it had icicles hanging off it. I slapped them off and the chrome came off with it! Is this a sign of a cheapo bumper. I got it in Houston 5 years ago. Is triple chroming the only standard to go with or how do you know what will last?

I don't believe chrome should ever come off, unless the base metal has rusted or deteriorated. I would say this is a sign that the bumper was not prepped properly before chroming.

You got it in Houston...???????

Superior Chrome plating by any chance???????

Mine too, if that's where yours came from. Bastards do the cheapest chroming job I've ever seen. Still pisses me off when I look at it.

chrome

Cheapos put the chrome right on the steel & it won't adhere properly. Copper sticks to steel good. Nickel sticks to copper good. Chrome sticks to nickel good. Any other process than that won't last.

If it's a TRI-PLUS bumper get in touch with the dealer you got it from and they will replace it.

Can't remember the place, but it was a bumper shop around the Heights area.
