Talking scored a cool seat

scored this for my 70

only paid 50 bucks for it,needs a little cleaning but it is leather and cloth with the bow ties embroidered in the seat backs.

now only problem is getting it to fit in the truck,it sits way too high.
i can hardly get my legs under the steering wheel.

oh yeah this is the rear seat out of a 2002 Avalanche
cool part is the seat bottom lifts up and the back folds, might become a fixed seat cause i might have to make a diffrent frame for it.

i got em from a guy who,s avalanche went through one of our tornados. the truck was a complete loss. he is keeping everything else for his 63 that he is building or so he say's.
more like the rest of the truck will get buried out in his acreage and forgot about untill some one comes along someday and digs it out of the weeds.

the picture looks like they fit but they sit way to high. i got to figure somthing out on how to bring them down about 3-4 inches and take out the center braces so it will sit down, but i gonna like them the center has cup holders in it. see
of course all the trash in the floor boards came from under the old seat,so i got to clean it up some and i think i gonna have to find some maching leather for the door panels.

oh! and they are very comfy

yeah i know they are very expensive. my jaw dropped when the guy told me he wanted 50 for it. of course i paid him the cash and took it out my self and drove off. i almost felt a bit guilty but of course not that bad considering dogs were using the inside of the avalanche as a dog house. i got the smell out and cleaned it up real good,it even smells like leather again

You should be ashamed to score that seat for $50. Did you give the seller a complimentary can o Vaseline with the $50? Great score....cripes! Post some pics of the frame mod when you get it done as well, I'd like to see how it went.

That's a great deal you got there! When I get into rebuilding my truck in a few years, I'll be searching for a set of Camaro buckets out of a late model, but that seat allows three. Post some pics when its all bolted down.

well i asked over and over if he was sure. he said thats all he wanted so i also gave him the rest of my carton of smokes, about 6 packs.

i sat outside untill dark coming up with ideas on how to shorten the mounts. i think i will just shorten them about 2 inches on the outside mounst and cut the center ones out. also am considering on making a bar to go across to the other seat to tie them together. these are actually 2 seats that are bolted together from the factory.

or cut the mounts and weld in the factory mounts and make it a non folding seat. dunno yet just thinking things through.

I have to do the same thing with my Dodge Seats. They sit 5 " higher than factory and you can hardly get your legs under the steering wheel. I am gonna try and use the sliding frames from my original bench seat and make a frame to mount them. This way, there are no more holes to be drilled in the floor. If that doesn't work, then I will have to cut down the center and front outer mounts and make up a new mount for the rears

Idea.
Just look at a stock chevy seat in a truck and duplicate the mounts. Like mine is out of a pre 91 before headrests were required. I have a similar steering wheel for now and have no clearance issues. Just a thought.

Just start cutting on the frames; I used the ones from the second row of a '99 Sub (mine was $150...$50 is a STEAL!!! If he wanted that little for the seat, I'd have looked into the engine and tranny as well...one of those 6.0L's with a 4L60E would be nice in these trucks) and I made it work no problem in an afternoon, and I can still flip the seatbottoms forward (the driver's side not as far, of course, because of the wheel).

project 70 you have any pictures? i have a 2002 burb and i looked at both. my seat and the one in the burb, they look exaclty the same. i would love to see how ya bolted it in,i dont care if its pretty or not just if it works i drove it with it just sitting in there today and love the feel of the seat, just felt like i was in a semi and not a truck for how high it sits.

the avalanche i got this out of has the 5.3 vortech but he wouldnt let it go,said he was gonna us it in his 63 chevy truck.
