drip rail rust easy fix?

any easy way too fix or replace small sections say 1/2 to 1" in one or two places? And its just the lip

I know how to cut it off or per say get rid of it but how do you replace it?

I woluld say, cut it out, weld in new metal, then re-seal the seam, apply body filler if needed, then prime and paint
