GMC rear bumper help

Question for you GMC guys.
Ordered new step bumper and bumper brackets for my '64 GMC SWB (with leaf springs). Quick look yesterday, can't see how the brackets bolt up. Is there a difference in coil spring vs leaf spring brackets?

My truck had the heavy duty wrap-around-onto-the-rear quarter bumper when I got it. So I have no reference how this fits.

Re: GMC rear bumper help

Are you trying to mount the chrome or painted "Sport" bumper? I've spent quite a lot of time searching parts books for brackets to mount one on my shortbed K10 with leaf springs. I'm convinced GM never offered this bumper on shortbed leaf spring trucks. If you want one you'll have to fab an extension to your frame similar to the 4x4 Suburbans and Panels.

Re: GMC rear bumper help

I purchased the chrome step bumper for a Chevy and also the bumper mounting brackets.
Tensing to think you are correct about the leaf spring trucks never having this option. None of the mounting bracket holes line up and the shackle mount is in the way of where the outer bracket should bolt up.
Looks like I get to cut up my new $80 brackets to make it work the way I want to.
