Re: WHat did you get done 12/18/2011 edition
Yesterday I put the front clip back on my K5 Blazer project and welded another panel on the floor inside. I'm getting real close to sending it out for the body work and paint! I can't wait to get it out of the garage and maybe pull the 81 shortbox I just picked up in for some teardown.

Re: WHat did you get done 12/18/2011 edition
Today 12-18-2011 I cut the cross brace under the bed just above the frame. I had to cut it in order to put the c-notch in. It took 3 hours, because I did not remove the bed. I will now have to cut the frame to get the c-notch in.

I finaly gave up on geting my bedwood anytime soon, so I took a sheet of aluminium that I had in the workshop and made a temporary floor for my bed.

Added a "Season Correct" shift knob to my '50.
Caught up on chores around the house. My weekdays during December leave zero time for anything other than the UPS truck.

Ripped the stick manifolds off to make sure the new headers fit right. And they do. Put my little 2" mini tach I got at harbor freight in for the hell of it. Wrapped it in a pbr can

Got rid of my crappy Sunpro gauges and put Autometer electric gauges in. I think I am going to get an Autometer clock to put in the other gauge hole.

Re: WHat did you get done 12/18/2011 edition
We had really nice weather here on Saturday & a buddy of mine offered to hang out in the driveway w/me for several hours which allowed me to get the rebuilt drivetrain installed back in the engine bay of my dually. I was nervous because several changes had been made since yanking the motor for re-building & I hate tying someones day up because of unforseen issues.
I only goofed on one thing but we were able to correct it fairly easily. I installed the trans x-member backwards & the holes @ the mount didn't want to line up once full weight @ the trans was set on it. I realized what the error was, but once the motor/trans are in, the x-member doesn't have much room to come out. Luckily there was enough wiggle room w/the trans tilted up that I could get the x-member out & turned around. Once that was done, everything lined up correctly (not bad for building the x-member off of measurements w/o the drivetrain in place). Today I got back out there & worked on checking for installation clearance on some $50 c-list headers I picked up a while back. The headers are full length w/1 3/4" primaries & no rust or dents. I worked on the drivers side today which fit but I went ahead & trimmed a little off the motor mount 'shell' as well as about a 1/4" off the frame rail where it was really close. At the end of the day I had about 1/4" clearance @ the MM tower & about 3/8" @ the frame. I'll work on the pass side on my next opportunity. The initial fit seems better than the drivers side but until they're fastened into place I can't be sure. I was also able to get a good feel for the front lowering now that there was some weight @ the nose. I currently have about 3" of clearance between the tip of the OE height bumpstop & the front x-member. The lip of the fender is just about even w/top of the 29.75" front tire. I didn't cut any off the front coils but w/the gap @ the bumpstop, I might just go ahead in put my bag plates into place & run bags up front. The bummers for the weekend.... the Lokar BBC dipstick didn't fit the Milodon pan (too tight) nor did the Lokar th400 dipstick work on the trans (seems too loose). I previously did a quick initial test fit on the oil pan dipstick & felt it would fully seat once I put some synthetic lube on the o-rings. It wouldn't go. The trans dipstick just arrived Thursday so I didn't know what to expect. Now I get to seek solutions for these issues....

I replaced my brake calipers and pads on the front. I used a paint kit ($20.00). They look good for now.

Re: WHat did you get done 12/18/2011 edition
Got my 88 91 blazer radiator support swapped in, still need to order some headlight buckets but the grille and lights are installed. Installed my air bag gauges, cleaned up some wiring and air lines.
We are heading to the in laws house early am tomorrow in Iowa so most of today was spent packing and getting ready for the trip.

go oil changed and started ripping out the rest of the EGR stuff, painted headers and started my rebuild of leave springs, going from a 5 pack to an 8 pack, maybe nine. I want it to be able to tow without squatting too much.

Re: WHat did you get done 12/18/2011 edition
It was a historic day at my house. My 4 year old girl tightned here first 4 bolts today. She also performed an inspection of my burbs under side. I installed my new aluminum rad with duel fans. New set up drops temp from 210 to 190 in about 1 min. Sounds like a jet when engine is off and i turn them on manually.

Re: WHat did you get done 12/18/2011 edition
Nothing truck related except oil changes in my crewcab and my wifes X3. Oil has gone up . I did get the Chevelle inspected and tagged . It came from out of state so it had to be inspected before it could be titled in Tx. I was able to get off early and get it taken care of this week . I drove it a little and its fun. 327 built to 350 horse specs, a 700R4 and a 4.10 geared posi in the rear makes it a blast to drive . I drove it a couple places this weekend to sort it out. Here are a couple pics. We bought a new Canon T3i so the first couple pics are with the new camera. If I learn to use it correctly it should help me take some better pics of my rides.

Replaced the heater core and the wiper switch in the column on my '89 'burb. Put a HUMMER 10 blade fan on my '82 1t 6.2 diesel. Started gathering parts for my Ford 3G alternator swap on the diesel.

Re: WHat did you get done 12/18/2011 edition
Saturday Moring started with putting the Passanger side Gas tank back under the truck. Took it out to clean it and replaced the seal, ground wire and all rubber hoses. I them proceded to plumbing the new EFI fuel pump and Pre Filter. This pretty much burned up all the day light so after that i went into the house and started making up wiring harness's. Turned on the radio and went to town.
Sunday morning started with pulling the Dist, Carb and intake and cleaning everything. I then installed the Intake from a 86 Camaro along with the tuber runner's and the plentum, Fuel Rails and Fuel Reg along with all wiring. Got everything tightened up and had to call it a day. Ran out of light again. Hope to get the wiring installed this evening and the new Throttle Cable should be in also. Stocker is too short for the TPI setup.
