2 Groove Water Pump Pulley
I have been on the lookout for a 2 groove water pump pulley for a future conversion to AC. I haven't had much luck finding a factory pulley. I found this one on fleebay http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=390662151388 but I'm not sure if I should trust it. Has anyone purchased this one or one like it? I don't care for the chrome, but I figured I could paint it.

Re: 2 Groove Water Pump Pulley
Also, it looks like my current pulley is 7" and several of they pulleys I am finding are 6.25-6.5. Will the smaller pulley size be a problem?

Re: 2 Groove Water Pump Pulley
Here is a photo of my current setup. I think I have something a little goofy going on with my power steering. I am hoping that I can replace the first crank pulley with a double setup along with the water pump pulley and keep the 2 outside pulleys so I can use the outermost one for my power steering. I am not really sure what's up with the spare groove or why it lines up the way it does.

Re: 2 Groove Water Pump Pulley
Just a heads up there is a small and large 4 bolt pattern on that pulley.

Re: 2 Groove Water Pump Pulley
My old setup on the 305 TPI motor. Had all the 71 chevy truck pulleys on it though. Just for reference for you.

Re: 2 Groove Water Pump Pulley
I found that out the hard way! Luckily all I did was redrilled the correct holes between the other holes. Worked out fine and the way it gets sandwiched there's no need to worry about losing strength.

Re: 2 Groove Water Pump Pulley
I have a Weiand water pump on my 350 engine and it is drilled for both bolt patterns. I gave up looking for a OEM 2 groover and used a Mr. Gasket 2 groove but it is chrome. Anyway one solution to consider.

Crank Pulley - 3744043 Water Pump Pulley - 3995646 I found a few other people that seem to be using that combo with some success. I plan to search around the interweb some more this evening. Plus I am curious to see what I have at home with my current setup. I think I also figured out that the reason I have a spare space on my add-on pulley is because I have a power steering pump and pulley combo that would have been used in conjunction with an air pump for smog. If I reuse that pulley I will end up a total of 4 grooves on my crank with 3 in use. |

Re: 2 Groove Water Pump Pulley
The chrome pulleys are know for slipping. I tried for several months when I first did the 305 to run chrome pulleys. I thought I wasn't getting the belts tight enough and it all fixed itself when I put all the stock pulleys back on it.

Small correction to my post above, 2.125" and 1.75" should be the 2 water pump pulley bolt patterns. Upon further inspection I have the 2.125" pattern, which should correlate with the part numbers I listed earlier. Sorry if some of this is repetitive. I search and research a lot and I like to put the answers out there for future people like me. |
