metal in my oil ?
i noticed when i changed my oil that it looked like metallic paint, but nothing really stuck to my magnet that i stirred around in my oil. when i took off my valve covers the oil had a gray look and lots of metal dust on my magnet. would that indicate it is coming from the top half, like a push rod?

Sorry for your luck. Never a good feeling. Bet you would find a lot in the oil filter if it was cut open. That is a good tool to have.
Non-magable metal would be soft bearing material. Ferrous particles are likely to be at the push rods, rocker fulcrums, and more commonly, cam to lifters.
