Before I place my LMC order...

Can anyone recommend another mail order or Internet parts company that has the selection they do?

It seems their prices are a bit on the high side, and I've already been a bit frustrated with the girls who take the orders. They arent the best at helping with questions.

I've tried many of searches, but nobody seems to carry the vast inventory of parts LMC does. Being new to the vintage Chevy truck world, some suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Before I place my LMC order...

I've always been happy with Classic Parts in KC, Mo.

http://www.classicparts.com/

The search feature on the website leaves a little to be desired, but on the phone the service has always been good.

I have used Brothers http://www.brotherstrucks.com/
And The Truck Shop. It is my favorite one. http://www.truckandcarshop.com/
And LMC has been good tooo. It all depends on what you need. Lmc has more door moldings and that kind of stuff, where Brothers seams to carry more body panels and engine stuff.

Re: Before I place my LMC order...

There is a Vendor section here.

Here is a link.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/links/browselinks.php?c=2

If you want to know about any specific Vendor ask in this thread. I am sure you will get an honest answer from our members.

I like Classic Parts or the Board vendors. For rubber seals and stuff like that I go with Classic Heartbeat or GMC Pauls.

Re: Before I place my LMC order...

It all depends on what you are ordering - a lot of places sell the same things and/or better items for cheaper, you have to shop around. As a general rule, I have found LMC to have good prices on some things, and carry items others don't and I use them for those parts, but every other vendor out there is typically cheaper than them, has a promo code to enter for 10% off or so, and/or much cheaper shipping - LMC really is bad on shipping prices.

You should make a list of what you need and send it to board member mgbmike. I did that recently, and he was cheaper than everyone else, was very knowledgeable and a good guy.

Classic Heartbeat and Frank's Pick 'um ups. They are local guys to me here in WA. If they don't have what I need (which is rare), I go to Classic Parts, ECE, or CPP.

Re: Before I place my LMC order...

I deal with LMC for the truck.
jegs and summit for the mechanicals.
I learned my lesson going with the cheapest supplier. You usually get what you pay for but that doesn't mean that they can't be good.
I'm just scared to try another vendor when i've had so much success with these 3

Re: Before I place my LMC order...

I'd look to see if you have any vendors somewhat close to you. I found out Goodmark had a distributor less than two hours from me, saved me a ton of money on shipping.

I now have a 67 Firebird that needs A TON of sheet metal. I did some internet searching and found out National Parts Depot has a big distribotor up in Charlotte, less than 2 hours away. Again, this will save me a ton of cash and headaches. I opened ALL of my boxes at Goodmark and inspected everything. I'll do the same when I go to NPD.

There's also a place called "Southern Rods" about 15 minutes from my house that carries a lot of stuff, and if they don't have it in they'll order it for me and I don't have to pay shipping.

...AND I found out by talking to quite a few vendors at the big swap meets that if you place an order before a show, they'll bring your parts for free shipping. Not all of them will, but some.

Re: Before I place my LMC order...

Quality has always been my only consideration for part ordered for our inventory or my trucks. Some of the companies listed in this post do not always give quality as their first priority, it is price. I shop around all the time to try to get better prices so I can pass them on to our customers, however once I order the parts I check the quality of the part against what I already have. Most times, lees cost = less quality. WES

I bought a t/gate from LMC & it was a nightmare to adj & fit as their parts are made overseas. Howard

It's gonna be hard to find ANY vendor that has sheetmetal parts that are not made overseas... so that's not LMC specific.

Re: Before I place my LMC order...

def classic parts for best selection and brothers for best cust service. Had issues with backorders not communicated that they took care of by offering a disc and quick shipping. GMC pauls is a little more pricey depending on what you are looking for but has a tremendous selection

www.truckandcarshop.com is far cheaper for the same parts, all you have to do is check and compare.
