I'd love to see the everyday workhorses some of you guys drive on a day to basis.

I'm planning on daily driving a '67 C20 and just wanted to see how many others do the same

My daily driver. '68 suburban, Straight 6 292, 3 on the tree w/overdrive. I drive this beast 120 miles per day, 5 days a week.

I hope that 6 gets you 'decent' gas mileage!

Looks like I'm getting a 396, so I'll also be a local gas station regular

I didn't know that I liked the Suburbans of this era, gorgeous truck!

Bone stock. Not sure on the gears yet but it does have overdrive. I've chatted with several others with straight six engines and they are getting about the same. I have no reason to make up stories haha. Research it.

Well if you're getting that mileage you're in the vast minority. 292 are known for being gasoline guzzlers. I've owned plenty of them. I had one bone stock in a Chevy Nova and it wouldn't get 17 in a light little car. And just to add I didn't mean to accuse you if making up stories,plenty of people tend to over estimate their vehicles mpg figures haha

I just did a quick search here on the forum and found several others getting the same or better. Some are drastically worse though so it seems that there is a large margin there. I did forget to mention that it has a hei distributor. Other than that it's bone stock. Single barrel Rochester carb. I don't remember what the timing is set at right off. 110 of the 120 miles per day are on the highway. I'm guessing the rear end is 3.73. In overdrive it runs at pretty low rpm's.

Haha, no worries. I was absolutely blown away myself. I check my mileage every time i fill up.

I miss driving these trucks daily. I've lived where you can and used to back east here till the early '90s when I realized there's no way to winter drive one without destroying it. Have had plans to move back out west since, but wife (x) had other ideas, as I can see looking back. I always liked old GM trucks and chose these trucks for being modern classics, while the older ones were for fun/pleasure. Now these are in that precious category, and even newer. I need to move or just retire so I can sit out the salty roads

I did retire, but I drive it daily right up to the first salt drop and then it seems like forever till the spring rains wash away the salt, ( close to 5 months) the guys out west and south have it made...

Ya I drive mine from Early Spring to Late Fall. The salt/sand they put on the roads just destroys vehicles.

Here is mine. Going into shop during winter get body work done and painted Maui Blue if I don't change my mind again lol. Everyone at work tells me to leave it as is but what do construction workers know anyhow
