Help with bed assembly

Since my truck was in pieces when I bought it, I'm not exactly sure how the bed fits together...In the picture below, is this where the rear cross sill bolts to the bedside? It's supposed to just slide into that slot correct?

That is where it slides in...once you thin down the cross member or open up the slot. I used an air hammer to thin down the cross member to fit it in.

Re: Help with bed assembly

Thank you. After measuring everything it seems I have to open up the slot (or narrow the sill) about 3/16"...Once again, aftermarket parts seem to be more hassle than they're worth.

It's held in by two bolts on each side, correct? There are more holes on the front side of the sill but none in the front edge of the bed...Are there supposed to be 4 bolts on each side?

Re: Help with bed assembly

I think there are 4 bolts on each side and 2 of those have nuts welded to the bedside and the others take a lock washer and nut. I will go out and look at mine...its not fully bolted together yet but that's what I remember...

Re: Help with bed assembly

So I need to drill holes in the bedside mounting surface? Here are a couple of pictures of the area in question.

Working on a picture...yes you will have to drill holes in the front edge similar to the other edge, I just checked my new bedsides and they are missing the holes too...
