Side emblems/badges

hi guys I have a quick question: how do you remove side emblems from a 1962 stepside? What is the access area? Thanks for your time!

Re: Side emblems/badges

You mean the ones mounted on the cab/cowell corner?

Re: Side emblems/badges

I have been able to remove the bolt in the fender bottom (you know, the one threading into the rust pocket so it may be frozen up) and also loosen the ones under the cab/cowell corner which facilitates the use of a ratcheting wrench to remove the nuts that secure the emblem. It is a bit of a bear to jam your hand behind there, but beats removimg the whole fender if you can get it that way.

Re: Side emblems/badges

Yeah, just four bolts to get the fender cowl extension off and then you have access to the back of the emblem which has two pins holding it on.

Re: Side emblems/badges

Just to clarify, lay on the ground inboard of the front tire and look up at the backside of the fender at the bottom. There is a bolt near the rocker panel which bolts into what I termed the "rust pocket" because that's where all fenders rot out. That bolt has to come out. It may snap off in the threads if its been there a long time. If it snaps, you will need to drill it out and re-thread the hole so be careful. Removing that bolt causes the bottom of the fender to flap in the breeze creating a way for you to jam your hand in toward the back of the emblem. Depending on how much room you need you may have to further loosen the fender at the top. This is where removing the cab corner comes in.

Re: Side emblems/badges

Aren't your badges located above the fenders on the cowl extensions? The correct fenders on a 62 have no badges.
