73-87 axles vs. 67-72
I'm thinking of putting in some complete 3/4 ton axles from a 73-87 4X4, I currently have 3:08 gears in 1/2 ton axles. Are the spring pads wider on the 73-87 than the 67-72? How much work would need to be done to make this work? Would I also need to change U-joints, etc? Thanks!

Front axle is a direct bolt in. The rear will require moving the shock mounts, I believe. You would have to get hybrid type u-joints or replace the yokes on your TC. Do a search here and over at www.coloradok5.com to get more info.

Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

the front is a bolt in, the distance between the perches is a little more but will still work the back the shock mounts need to be changed and I cant remember if the spring perches are the same or not.

You know I can't remember for the life of me what I have in my truck (ujoints) and I really need to change that thing. At times I really think that my ujoints are the same as a half ton front and rear. 77 chassis 3/4 ton

Spring perches on the rear will need to be moved also. 73-87 are 4-5 inches wider if my memory is correct. One tons from the later years have their springs at the same width as 67-72 but shock mounts are different.
