Re: How can i tell the year of my truck?

Turn down handles? With or without vents? Does it have a side vent on the driver's cowl? Where is the gas tank? What does it look like behind the seat?

There are lists of differences but nothing conclusive from what I've seen.

1947-53 splitter
54-55 1 piece windshield
1947-53 V bed
54-55 flat top bed
Doors: 1947-50 1 piece glass, turn down handles
51: vent windows with turn down handles
52-55 vent with push button
1947-48 or 49? gas tank under the bed.
49+ gas tank behind the seat
1947-50 side cowl vent
51+ no cowl vent (vent windows replaced this)

Lots of other little details but this should get you started. Sounds like it is what you want it to be.

hmmm... I was wanting to use a 1950 GA tag on it and register it as a 50... But I guess i will look for a 51 tag.. Tank exits on the passenger side, vent on the passenger side and turn down handles

Your doors are 51. The only year with the combination of wing vents and turn-down handles. If you have a title, go by what it says. If no title, it will depend on what your state uses for the VIN. If your state goes by the engine serial, they will probably go with what year you say. If the use the cab serial that will determine the year, if the plate is still on the A pillar.
