this is for sale near my home and i was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the style of truck. or its intended purpose.
the front end is a 71-72 chevy truck.
didnt know what end of the rare or expense scale this fell on.

Looks like a burb. The tailgate and tail lights are burb. It only has 3 doors like a burb.

Re: does this look familiar to anyone?

yeah i will try to get bed shots posted the gate was locked this time i went by. it has a blazer hatch a steel bed and the drip rail continues all the way down the side. it looks factory i tried looking for info on the mexico GM factory that made the panels up until 72 thought maybe this came out of there too. it has a spot light and 4x4 so i thought maybe it was made for the forestry or lumber industry.
i know when i worked at the GM plant in arlington we were always making special industry trucks.

Re: does this look familiar to anyone?

And Chevy made such a big deal about the Avalanche... HA!

Seriously, I like that a heck of a lot. I wonder how much work it would take to build one?

Wasn't that one of those vehicles that was made for sale in Mexico? I think I remember a brochuer pamphlet that someone on her had that showed a pic. Give a few days, I know someone has it!

Yeah, it was posted on here a while back. I think South America that they were intended for.

I've never seen one and I've lived in a city of 8 million+ close by Mexico (Los Angeles) since 1973. So I think it is way up there on the rare list.I would think it's desirable too. Looks pretty good shape too.

Here's another South American variation of a Burb. Its short wheelbase like a Tahoe, but it still has the long a$$ end! Burbahoe??

This is only South American flyer I've seen, but there's got to be more...

The pickups sure look funky in the rear too!
Notice none of them have US goverment mandated side marker lights.

Re: does this look familiar to anyone?

After a second look, the South American burbs had pickup doors and the one at the top of the thread has the normal Suburban doors. It may have been made out of a regular Suburban.

Re: does this look familiar to anyone?

thats funny it has almost been a year that it was posted here. and it still has not sold. it still has the tires in the back as well as the rest of the trash.
just came back from seeing the truck and taking it for a ride.
story on the truck is that it is a 89 4x4 frame and 454 it has DANA and corporate drivetrain it runs well needs a tune up though. and it is a little rough around the edges, the guy selling it has owned it for 4years and the guy he bought it from did the conversion. he owned a body shop and these guys shared a deer lease together. the po wanted 9000. after the conversion and the current owner offered him 7000. and he took it.
well with the gas prices the way they are the current owner bought a smaller import truck (4cyl) i guess and is selling the burb for 4000.
he says if he doesnt get 4000. he will just take it to the deer lease.
well now that i know he has had it for sale for over a year and not many bites, i think i will offer him less, i will show him a wad of cash and see if he bites. im thinking 2600. in twenties so it looks like a lot of money. hell i may take 2600 in ones then it will really look like a lot of money.....

think how much work goes into designing and building new trucks just to have them end up on a ranch herding cattle or working at a construction site.

I wonder how common those mexican beds are, that are posted above?
Does anyone know if they will take the US stlye tailgate? There might be a lot of SWB beds south of the border.
