stock ride hight
does any one know what the stock ride hight is for a leaf sprung 1/2 ton 2wd i went and check one out that i found locally that some one had heated the springs to lower it. so i was just curies what if the stock hight is the same as a coil spring...

There are so many variables,even new from the factory, there were lots of wheel choices.Now,you won't find one that hasn't settled/sagged some.To me it's more important for the truck to set level from side to side,then you can adjust ride height and stance with suspesion mods and tires.

right on. im just a little paranoid about the whole heat the springs to lower it. rides a little rough but that can all be fixed you are correct. thanks for the input

Don't think there is that much difference. GMs numbers for curb weight overall height run from 69" on a SWB C10 to 69 1/2" for a C30 Longhorn.

thanks for the info guys and all the help. but today i decided not to buy the truck. i just had this answer of no that wouldn't leave me alone when i was looking at it again so i fallowed my gut didn't really want to but did it any way. i'll just have to wait for the next one to come around

I'd like to know the distance from the ground to the bottom of the peak of the outer fender as well as the tire height. I measured 28" from the shop floor and the peek over the tire on the front. My tire measures 24-1/2" to the top.
I have 27-3/4" from floor to fender on the rear. Tire size the same. I love the height but the previous owner heated the springs. I'd like to know how much drop I need from factory to get back to this height. |

generally its suppose to be with the oe tires of 29"s tall the stock height in front is 32'"s and 34"s in the rear, its measured from the ground to the bottom of the wheel lip at the center of the wheel, theres a good pic of it in the lmc parts catalog

so if I have 12-1/4" from the center of the wheel to the ground and the factory is 14-1/2", I'm 2-1/4" lower than stock ride height with the tires.
The difference from the fender height of mine and factory is 32" - 28" = 4"'s and 34" - 27-3/4" = 6-1/4". So 4" in the front minus the difference in tire height 2-1/4".... 4" - 2-1/4" = 1-3/4" lowered in front 6-1/4" - 2-1/4" = 4" lowered in the rear. Does this sound reasonable? The math works but it doesn't seem correct to me. The truck is nearly level just like I want but I think the front must be more than a 1-3/4" drop. If the math is correct I need a 2"/4" drop to get what I want from factory height. |
