so fun if every member of this forum got together someplace in the US for a weekend or even just a day or two, every one of us with our trucks, burbs, etc. and hold a massive swap meet?

I was looking through the "post your 67-72's" thread and realized there are probably several hundred trucks, and thought it would be wild if everyone threw a bunch of barter parts in the back of their rig and met up for a killer swap meet somewhere to do a lot of tradin' and BS'n.

Hell I'd beg steel or borrow the money to get over there for that, I've had the same thought a few times myself, problem is the shear size of the U.S some people would have to far to travel, especially in their old Truck.
But your right! it would be an excellent meet, I can just picture it.

Sounds like a great idea, but unfortunately not possible. I try to get around to local guys places when I can to share ideas and shot the breeze. I was at my son's house last night doing a shot the breeze session. He gave me a tour of his garage and the things he has been doing since I saw him last week.

It is amazing how many people are into old cars and trucks around here that don't go on the internet.

Its truly amazing how many of these old trucks are still around period .I see some new ones around my area quite often under daily use like mine .I just cant find good parts locally and there are several people I know that dont use computers but are into these trucks .

That would need to be a Big Block....get it?

I can see it now, we would all have great garages with plenty of space in them, everyone would have a daily driver and a really great project on the go, there would be one good parts store that sold everything and knowledgeable staff, a gas station always near by, open roads with an 80 mph speed limit...but it's ok if you break it with special designated burnout & donut zones, then a massive bar where we would all meet at weekends in our Trucks, finally a Steak house Burger joint & Mexican to soak up the BEER!!!....Three or four hundred acres should do it. And we'll call it utopia.

Nah! We'd need at least 3,000 acres. Say we have about 500-600 members at five acres each... plus room for the speedway Each member NEEDS at least a 2,500 sq ft shop as well as a house and space to park spare parts vehicles. Then we'd need a huge pull-a-part center along with the new parts warehouse that stocks everything for cut-throat prices. Then we'd of course have our town center with the beer, burger and bbq joints. Maybe a winery and a theater for Sat night cruise ins.

Adjecent to all this there would be a lake for summer activities and a massive patch of wilderness for hunting and trying out the 4x4's.

Ah, maybe someday.

Thousands of trucks and thousands of parts. It would probably be cheaper then what I spend on road trips and shipping.

I think you have a great idea. I belong to a Harley Davidson Heritage Springer Owners Association open only to Heritage Springer owners (made 97-03). They have a Western and Eastern Get Together for a few days each summer. Last one I went to a couple of years ago was in Gettysburg PA. The western one was in Colorado. They move from year to year. Home base is a hotel - might be able to do some horse trading in a rear parking lot, set up some scenic drives in the area, etc.

i agree just because we can carry a heavier load and got the "beef" from the factory don't mean we cant join!
though i agree it would be cool to meet all the members i'd be happy meeting just some from my area and have been wanting to try to get something together. but truth is im so busy that id hate to let anyone down if i started anything, then just got too busy to finish or even show!

my truck has the granny 4spd Ill pull the gate down and we can get in lol it would be great and a get together would be nice but I dont know how far I could go in my 72 c20 tht tops out at around 55 ( maybe if I left a month early?)

kind of off the subject but, I own a couple vw Corrados which are kinda rare and they used to have a meet-up in Chicago every 5 years to see how many we could get to show up- last time I went we had like 150 cars (there were only 17,000 imported to north america) - it sure would be cool to have a big show somewhere that was only 67-72 just to see how many would show up... there's a lot of our trucks still around...

Oh, I'm totally there! I think that'd be a great idea! The Alfa Romeo Club of America did this same thing this past summer in Frederick, MD. I went to the meet, there were over 300 Alfas there. Some place out west would be my vote, I'm up for a road trip.

check with the tourism association in either Pigeon Forge, TN or Gatlinburg, TN ... they do this sort of thing on a very regular basis.

I think Dallas Texas would be an excellent location. It's near the center of the country and Texas is truck country! No other state has more registered Trucks!

It would be cool for sure. I have been to a couple of meets for another car I own, the biggest one is held at a dealership. It might be possible to get a large Chevy dealer to sponsor or at least provide the space.

Texas, Tennessee, whatever. I think a good central location in the Sates would be a good idea so that us guys on wither coast don't have to drive the entire way across the country.
