Power Steering mounting problem?

I hope the pics are good enough but can anyone tell what's mounted wrong? I can not get the cap off my power steering pump. It hits the alt bracket. Something isn't right but I don't have anything to compare it to.

Re: Power Steering mounting problem?

HERES WHAT I HAVE RANDY!!!!

I AM OUT IN THE GARAGE NOW I CAN TAKE MORE PICTURES IF YOU NEED..

opps sorry about the caps

looks like you have the 71=72 model power steering pump bracket... mines a 69 wonder if you install a longer belt if it would lay back more and clear the alt bracket?

Re: Power Steering mounting problem?

If you don't have A/C just move your alternator to the other side.

Hey Mark....yea I was kinda thinkin I might try the longer belt thing when I put the crank pulley and new belts on for the Vintage Air install. From what I've seen it looks like I have the correct brackets. Thanks for the input!

Re: Power Steering mounting problem?

How about using a shorter belt that would move the cap over enough to turn it, Maybe?

Thumbs up Re: Power Steering mounting problem?

yea no problem randy... and after looking at your pictures real hard check out the slot in the rear of the pump for adjustment..looks like your almost all the way adjusted out..? hard to tell.. maybe a smaller belt would make the cap clear the alt bracket? something to check out

should be some solution to this delima !!!!

sounds KOOL on the vintage air set-up.
make sure you take pleanty of pictures as you could do FAQ on the install

sure there would be plenty of members that could use that..

we will have to hook up soon..your pal mark
