Who are you guys using for your full coverage insurance..... Are you using collectors insurance or just full coverage?

I have all of my oldies insured through American Family Ins. I haven't had any claims yet so the jury is still out on that.....

Mine was insured under Farmers ins. and since it now in pieces I called and had it cancelled , but the insurance agent did tell me when I was ready to re-up to use Haggerty's through them because it is cheaper and less hassle for claims. I will just have to have it reappraised.

america classic car insurance for my 2 cars, had to take em to my agent to take pics he sends the pics in to make sure the cars are worth what im insuring em for 17,000 each cost 112 x 2. my truck is on reg full coverage right now till i get all the bugs worked out

I use State Farm for everything I have insured...home, vehicles, personal libility policy, personal property, etc. When I first bought mine in Feb 2004, I just had basic liability on it until it was finished and started driving it. I called on a Wednesday and upped it to full coverage (had to take it by their office so they could examine it). Go into the wreck on that following Sunday, had a check in my hand on Tuesday.

I have been an agent for almost twenty years and althought I have not sold stricktly antique/collector car insurance I call tell you a few thinks you need to know. I currently work for a Nationwide agent and they will allow you to put your antique on your regular policy as long as there is one more cars than drivers and it is not going to be a daily driver. You will want to find out how your claim will be paid in the event of a total loss. Would it be actual cash value, state amount or agreed value? This stuff can be tricky so make sure you know what you've got before you need to use it. Also many companies that write only these type vehicles for a low premium do not usualy allow you more than 2500 miles per year so no daily drivers. The other thing you guys need to check into is if your homeowners policy covers your vehicles parts while you have it in pieces during a restoration or customization. I know Nationwide will not cover my $5k plus in parts that are not installed nor the truck while the is no motor or tranny under my homeowners policy. I have no coverage if my shed burns down which is kind of scary. Hope this helps a little.

Maybe i don't understand what you mean by "shed" , but my small barn aka Shop is the same , meaning they won't cover the contents. But my shop is covered for 20 k over replacement cost of the building value. Per my agents recommendation.

In Redneck terms:

Liability cover's the other persons rig if you cause an accident, but not your personal rig.

Full Coverage, cover's your personal rig in an accident and the other person's.

That's why when you get a loan, the bank make's you get full coverage. So that their investment is safe and sound for repo if you don't make the payment's.

I say the truck is worth 10K, they agreed with pics, now it is covered to 10k if it is wrecked.

Those that use hagerty have any of you had a claim? My questions is on occasion I have had to drive my truck to work for various reasons. If I get hit will they try and say I am using it for dailly driving and not pay?

I went through the same thing when trying to find insurance for my 67. A LOT of the classic insurance places (Hargerty included) told me that if the vehicle was driven outside of their policy, it would NOT be covered. I was specific in my questioning as well.

The majority of the "classic insurance" places answered my questions like this:

Can the vehicle be driven to work?
NO, never

Can the vehicle be driven during the week at all?
No, UNLESS you are going to attend a show or club event (must provide proof you were going to event if in an accident during the week.)

Can it be driven ANYWHERE on the weekends?
Yes, as long as you don't exceed their yearly mileage limit *From what I understand, they don't ask mileage anyway, so they'd have no way to prove this?

For all that have "classic insurance" on your "daily driver", you may want to check your policy and ask questions.

State Farm and Allstate were the only places that offered to provide full comprehensive coverage on my truck with a stated value of 7K. I went with allstate. I can drive the truck anytime, anywhere, and it's not required to be in a locked garage. It costs me about $600/year.

Well I spoke with hagerty and they said I can drive it anytime during the week for as many miles as I like per year as long as it is lesure driving and I have a fully insured second vehicle as my daily driver.

one other question what if someone hits me? And there ins company thinks it is not worth what I think it is worth? Will haggerty pay the difference or how does that work?

Never mind about the previous question called them and they answered my question. Also FYI driving to work is not forbiden thru haggertys as long as it is an ocasional thing. And one other thing to note haggerty is not daily driver insurance.
