LMC dual exhaust kits, how is the quality?

My truck desperately needs a complete exhaust, the front pipe is rust perforated (original pipe), and it only has one muffler and tailpipe.

I like the price of the LMC flowmaster kits for 249, but is it a good kit? will I have to do a lot of massaging to get it to look right?

I'd ideally go for the Magnaflow kit, but I am trying to be frugal this year and am not ready to drop 550 on exhaust if I don't have to.

Thanks for any input on the LMC dual kit.

Re: LMC dual exhaust kits, how is the quality?

I bought one of their dual exhaust systems for my 68 and had to do alot of work to make it fit. I was going to install it at home, but after several hours of frustration, I trailered into my shop where I have a pipe bender and had one of my mechanics install it. Once it is on, it sounds real good though.

I have their dual set up for my 4x4 and didn't have any problems at all. I love it. I would buy it again if I needed to.
Actually it's made by heartthrob.

i've done a couple of the lmc dual exhaust kits // once you figure out what goes where it goes together nicely// it helps to have the frame on jackstands and the rear hang down // piece it together loose and jack everything up into proper position before tightening anything

Re: LMC dual exhaust kits, how is the quality?

Wondering if the lmc dual exhaust kit would fit around the factory spare tire rack and tire? I had my dual exhaust done at an exhaust shop before I found the tire holder set up. Now it won't work. ED67C20

I have a blazer tank where the spare tire would go, so yes, it would fit fine.

Re: LMC dual exhaust kits, how is the quality?

I have the same kit LMC sells on my 4x4. Check out heartthrob.com they offer free shipping and if you get the kit without mufflers you are looking at $184 to your door. The hangers are a little cheesy but the pipes fit very well and will work with no problem around the spare tire. Mine installed in less than 1.25 hours but no bed or cab in place and that is welding in place.

You guys that have these exhaust kits installed, are you using the stock manifolds? I'm looking at them as well and want to make sure they work fine with the original exhaust manifolds.

Re: LMC dual exhaust kits, how is the quality?

It works with the stock center dump ramhorns.

If I had to do it all over again, I would have rather paid a shop a little more to build me an exhaust, but this one is "cheap" and works just fine. It's been on my truck since 2002.

With the money you're saving through hearththrob.com, go through Summit and get a set of their $70 headers. They're basically Hedmann without the name. I've had a set for 5 years and they're still going strong.

That would be a reasonable way to go if a person wanted headers. Not this boy, though. I am content with the rams horn manifolds.

Re: LMC dual exhaust kits, how is the quality?

I just got off the phone with my local exhaust shop, and for $400 complete, installed, I can get a complete dual exhaust system 2.5" pipes and Flowmaster 40's

I think I am going to go that route.

Re: LMC dual exhaust kits, how is the quality?

I was gonna suggest to call around to the different muffler shops. Sometimes you can get a good deal and not have to put up with putting the system together yourself.

Re: LMC dual exhaust kits, how is the quality?

gintaras,

if you can get it built for $400, DO IT! the LMC kit isn't bad but the best price i was quoted was $600 so i did the LMC.

Re: LMC dual exhaust kits, how is the quality?

Mine setup uses the stock manifolds and had no problems with bolting and going- only area that was even a little difficult was the t/c side and it was not hard. If you are looking for a stock type replacement system this set is a good set. 2.25 diameter pipe and you choose what mufflers you want if you just get the pipe kit so you come in @ right at $300 for flowmasters.

Re: LMC dual exhaust kits, how is the quality?

Well, i dropped it off at the shop this morning, going to get full 2 1/4 duals with Flowmaster 40's

My truck only came with a single side exit, and I don't have an OEM bracket on the pass side like I do on the driver side, so I hope they do a good job and match the OEM mount somehow. I sure do hope these Flowmasters aren't too loud, maybe I should have got the Turbo muffles instead, when I asked how loud it would be with the FM 40's he said "extremely loud", then he said not as loud as cherry bombs, but louder than turbo's.. so I think that will work for me. We will see.. the last thing I wan is an obnoxiously loud slow truck

Re: LMC dual exhaust kits, how is the quality?

OK.. FM 40 series may be to oloud so I chickened out.. The shop recommended something in between, louder than a "turbo" muffler, but quieter than a 40.. it is a 2 chamber, called an accelerator? or excellerator? Anyone hear of that before?
