Nv3500 to np205

Maybe somebody on here can help. I have an nv3500 out of 93 chevy blazer and I want to put an np205 t-case on it. I have a round pattern 205 off of a th400. My problem the t-case shifter hits the tail of the trans when i try to slide it on. Has anyone ever tried this combination or know of a place that makes an adapter?

I looked there. They only seem to have adapters for the figure 8 pattern.

I wouldn't put an NP205 behind an NV3500 myself. In my opinion, they are too heavy for the aluminum housing on the transmission, and as you have discovered, the shifter is a problem.

I'd personally install an NP241 (89-91 for pass side drop, 89 for mechanical speedo) or an NP208.

x2

I have owned trucks with the NV3500. You will never be happy with that transmission. Very light duty, no granny gear, and the NP205 will be too heavy for the tail shaft as Russell stated.

I don't think the weight will be an issue. It has a mount to go from the t-case to the frame. As far as no granny gear, I don't think I need it, 4.56 gears should make first gear low enough.

Not saying you are wrong, but I have found that even with 4.57 gears and even in 4 Low, compound low has its place. I guess it depends on how you use your truck. On steep or rough terrain it can help, or if you need to creep around a work site or something. Also, I don't have power steering so compound low is handy for maneuvering around.

The way I see it,why go through alot of hassle to put a transfer case that far exceeds the strength of the transmission when you can bolt on a tranfer case that matches the strength, like a 208 or 241?It might not be a bad idea if it didn`t have an obstacle.A 205 is definately overkill for that trans.Besides,a 241 has a deeper lo-4 to help compensate for the lack of granny gear.

Re: Nv3500 to np205

Oh, and a 241 is rated for more input torque than a 205 is

That would be a pretty slick setup, especially for a daily driver truck that sees the highway a lot. I actually saw a nv3500 with matching passenger drop transfer case on the local craigslist for $400 a while back.
