6in lift with 33s

Anyone have pics of a 6in lift with 33s?

IMO it looks good but I can almost guarantee you will want 35's or 36's after awhile. Everyone always does

I don't think it looks too bad. Plus, choosing 35s over 33s really isn't much of an upgrade in anything except looks. The difference in ground clearance is not much more than half an inch. Yes, i know theoretically it should be an inch. But you're never gonna get an extra inch of ground clearance just switching to 35s. Sorry, i don't have any pics. Not tryin to threadjack, just thought i'd add that info.

Why lift a truck higher than it needs to be to clear tires?You don`t even need a lift for 33s.
I guess some like that and I believe to each his own.To me it`s not just looks,which I think a truck sitting on top of tires looks bad.It`s a matter of safety,performance,and common sense.I ran 12.50/33s on my`90 Blazer mounted on 10" wheels and only had the spring shop give it enough to level up the front...1-2".That was only because of the wider wheels and I ran Bushwacker extend-a-fenders that I didn`t want to chance snagging.

Kind of off topic to your request I guess, but I am in complete agreement with Special-K. No need to lift a truck unless you need more tire clearance. To make more offroad clearance for 33's maybe a 2 1/2" lift. I ran 33's on my Jimmy with not lift and no problems, and they were 14.5s and not 12.5s. 4" lift will clear 35's easily for street driving. Only real reason to go 6" would be to run 37-38" tire IMO. But any lift raises center of gravity hurting off-road performance. Personal opinion, but 6" is WAY too much lift for 33's. I went to 35's shortly after doing my 4" because it was WAY too much lift for 33's.

I have always wanted to take a square body truck and try and cram as much tire as possible with minimum lift. You could stretch the wheel wells like the do on a 69 Camaro drag car since the opening has a flat top. Then you could maybe do a 2 1/2" lift with an offset zero rate leaf to move the front axle forward, then run the same 38's.

Not quite a bolt on, though!

i have a 4 inch left on my '72 k20 and i put 35x12.5x16.5 and they rub the fender while turning so i took them of and put 33's on

I'd like to see a truck do some actual serious offroading with 33" tires and no lift and not rub the fenders constantly.

This is about 73-87s,not the same deal as what you have.But,you do prove the point that even with smaller wheel openings you don`t rub with 33s and 4" lift.
I didn`t do "serious"off roading in my Blazer.It was the family car.I used it as most other 4wd owners do.It hit the bump stops before rubbing when twisting.Remember you increase travel by lifting and possibly chance of rubbing with bigger tires.You still stuff as far as a non-lifted truck with smaller tires.If I was doing "serious"off roading I`d run taller that 33s.We`re talking 12.50s,I assume.That`s what I had on 10" wheels.8" wheels make it clear better.There are 9.50/33s,Q-78s,and 255/85s.The last two are 33+ and will never rub on a stock truck.They look awesome with a 4"lift and can "seriously" off road better than most 12.50s.

we had a '86 GMC Jimmy full size it had a 4inch lift on it and it had 35s on it.And no body lift.There were 35x12.5X15.Put it this way we bought it that way.It had 4inch blocks on the back so i am guessing it was a 4" lift

I don't mean to argue, but that wasn't his question. He wanted to see what a 4" lift would look like with 33's. I think this comes back to a personal choice thing. I personally like the look of 33s under a 4" lift, and 35s under a 6" lift. To me, that looks balanced. I don't do any serious off roading, I will drive my truck to work and back. It is true that for off roading you want to keep your center of gravity as low as possible, but for a mostly street driven truck thats not the case. It comes down to what we each want for our own trucks.

Clint,you need to reread this thread.It`s about 6" w/33s.I`d put a 4" lift w/33s,that`s what is recommended for real off road use w/35s being a tad tight,but good for general use.That`s exactly how I like them.I only didn`t lift my Blazer because I`ve climbed into lifted trucks since`77 and knew how I wanted Momma`s buggy.I had two young kids,she drove it as the family car,and with a baby on the way, getting him into a baby seat in the back was hard enough with a stick rig.I took my own approach with my Blazer and everyone is entitled to do the same.It never had more agressive tires than A/Ts,had good road handling shocks and sway bars,great sound system,dark tint,walnut panels in the interior,yet the 4wd guy in my got a rare 4spd,vinyl interior,crank windows,basic paint scheme,and manual lock-outs(all different than most Silverados in`90),and I installed an Auburn Gear unit front and back.

PS:Not to ague,but keeping a low center of gravity is especially important on the street.You`ve never seen a rolled lifted truck on the street?I`ve laid two on their side in my day and they were only lifted as much as necessary.One had cut-out fenders and minimal lift (prolly not even 4")...and 14.50/37s.That other had 7" and 13/37s.Both accidents were due to circumstances out of my control.If you don`t know already,they like to lay over like a whore...trust me.
Here`s My Suburban and my old`84,both with 4" lift and 35s.For hard wheeling I`d run a 6" lift.But I really don`t do that much in reality and I don`t like the lanky look unless it serves a purpose,that`s all.I don`t have any 6" w/33s because I don`t really see anyone do that.If they did,I wouldn`t want a picture and that`s just me and I`m good with that.I`d show a picture if I had one.I`m just advising to dictating how to do his truck.



Here`s my Blazer before any spring work w/32s on stock rallyes powdercoted black when it was a couple months old.I could hard wheel that with no problem.That`s how I came up with the way I went.I took and cycled the suspension in every way imaginable with clearance to spare.

Alot of rubbing depends on b/s of the wheels. I have a 6" lift on my truck with 35s mounted on 10" wheels. These are Mud Brutes, and don't measure a true 35". But with the lift they still rub offroad. I don't have any pics of 6" and 33s, but like the others stated, little too much lift and not enough tire.

IMO, 4" 33s look good if you have a wide tire or on wide rims. 33s on ralley's look good on a stock truck.

I'm trying to find a way to run 40" boggers on 12" wheels for my crew cab, already has a total of 6", thinking of going with cutouts but it will still rub....

Yeah,the wheels make the difference.All three of my square bodies ran 10".But,8" is the trend these days more than 10s with 12.50s and they clear way better.Basically,the 2" is mostly all outer which put`s then into the fenders more.I could trim a barely noticeable bit of fender and do whatever I wanted off road.Personally,that`s what I`d do better going upwards.

agreed on wheels making a difference. When I bought my K3500 it came with 33x12.50 on aftermarket 16.5" wheels. I had the turning radius of a school bus. I put a 4" lift in the truck, and sometimes I'll still get a rub depending on how the suspension is loaded.

Yea nice rig Jared looks good. I love lifted trucks but if your running a lift at least put bigger tires on! There's a few big rigs around town with smaller tires all year round cmon haha
