Propane was an option then, probably a rare one too. My truck book shows as" liquid petroleum gas engine kit" (used on1,429 trucks)

I'll add my two cents, for what it's worth. It sounds like your book may be a little general. They did have comercial trucks running propane back then, They were advertised as being more efficiant and engines lasting longer, due to cleaner burning. But I have a options list specific to 72 blazers, and nothing in it on propane. Now for the trivia. Back in 73 or 74 they had a phoney gas shortage, and we all had to wait in line for half an hour just to get 10 gal. of gas. (using up a couple to get your 10) Propane was plentyfull, so conversion shops sprang up like weeds after a rain. As far a dealer installed. I was wrenching for a dealer back then, and we would never do anything like that due to liability. We wasn't trained for propane, and if somebody went boom with our conversion, they would have owned the shop. So my guess is it was converted back in 73 or 74.

I bought a 1 tone longhorn from a friend of my dads customers that I used as my work truck. My father owned a gas station. It had been set up for propane. My dad told me the owners son used it in his business and ran it on propane

I have had three propane converted units of different years and up until 2013 2500 hd models it has never been a "factory " conversion it has always been an aftermarket unit
dont hate it was kinda cool and you could fill it from your big tank at home
hell i had a neighbor that had his lawn mower converted over with a homemade kit that he made and used a 30# bbq cylinder
