does this rocker box look OE or has it been replaced?

I was under the impression that my blazer was fairly un-molested but during my restoration I have noticed a few things that lead me to wonder? do these rocker boxes look like they have been replaced? i know the RH outer rocker has been replaced (poorly). what do you guys think?

I will be able to see more once i get it cleaned up and the outer rockers removed, just curious.

I agree. That front weld looks sketchy. Not like any factory weld I've seen on these trucks.

Based on my blazers (2 plus 2 extra tubs) and all the blazers that I have seen and worked on, I would bet $$ those are original.

Looks like the ones on most of my trucks as well...they are usually hidden by the wheel wells - so maybe they were a spot to teach newbies at the factory.

Re: does this rocker box look OE or has it been replaced?

Forgive my ignorance, newbie here....What exactly is the purpose of the rocker box? My 72 has one on the passengers side that is rusted bad, and the drivers side is missing. I was tempetd to just remove the other one and go without but thought I'd ask first.

Without them, there isn't much strength, or support for the firewall and windshield frame. If you ever remove your top (and why wouldn't you) you will WILL need them!

Good to know. Guess I better replace them. I never run with the top and am even going without doors this year. (Making a set of one off tube doors)

Mine is the same. I think they assembled it just like they would for a truck and then they just slapped the rocker box over top after.
