Blazer hatch reassembly question

When reassembling a hatch mechanism, does the "bent" rod go on the driver or passenger side?

I believe Tom is right, when you start to assemble they will pretty much just go one way. If you have them wrong they seem to bind and dont work smooth

Re: Blazer hatch reassembly question

May need to retract last post found this in one of my albums, this is a pic as it lays on the bench, and that would be the drivers side, also need to add that the bend in the center was to take out slack and make handle work better (latch didn't want to open all of the way)

Re: Blazer hatch reassembly question

I'll second what Tom said. Bent rod is for the pass side. Had mine apart several times trying to fix the fact it won't pull the latch far enough to release.

Re: Blazer hatch reassembly question

Yeah, I should've updated my question. Once I started putting it back together, I realized I had put a very small "P" on the foam damper of one side and a small "D" on the other one. (passenger and driver) I got it figured out, and you are right, there is definitely about one way they will go back together.

How did you get yours open to see the inside of it? I had junk rattling around in there. I would have like to completely disassembled it to remove it, but I was afraid it was impossible.
