Re: what does the "custom" package consist of?

I'm curious about this too. My truck has Custom badges also and I don't know what it is supposed to consist of. Is there a site or thread that list what each option package is supposed to have?

Re: what does the "custom" package consist of?

well doing some searching i found this, but it was mentioned towards the 62-66 style, so i dont know if it was the same for the 67-72's also:

Trim levels consisted simply of base and Custom. The Custom added an aluminum bodyside molding and cloth (versus vinyl) seating. Engine choices included the standard 236-cubic-inch inline six (with 135 horsepower), a 261-cubic-inch six-shooter with 150 horsepower and a 283-cubic-inch V8 with 160 horses.

i found that here http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...rticleId=63939

Re: what does the "custom" package consist of?

Looking in the catalog of standard trucks, it really does not say what was in the Custom option. It shows Custom Interior equipment and Custom chrome equipment. Do you still have your glove box sticker?

I imagine the the custom int package included the extra padded bench seat or bucket seats, delux knobs for dash and radio, chrome door panel trim, and maybe headliner.
The custom chrome appearance packege had the chrome bumpers, bright trim on grill, sides, tailgate, windshield, vent windows, and rear window.

I am sure that someone had better info on what was part of these packages...

Re: what does the "custom" package consist of?

yeh i still got the glove box sticker, i checked it one time, but dont remember everything it had....but it has a good bit of chrome trim on the interior and did have the padded bench seat and it at one point in time had all the side moldings and trim and dont have the original radio so i dunno about that and dont have the chrome door panel trim, but that couldve been removed years ago

Re: what does the "custom" package consist of?

IIRC, from 67-70 Custom was used to denote trucks with all the chrome, and other options, which would be listed on the glovebox.

however, in 71, custom became the base model, with the addition of deluxe and super to indicate the different trim levels.

Re: what does the "custom" package consist of?

Remember that in this era the "Custom" was just a trim package.Options were individual. You could order power windows and not have to get power seats.Options were checked off one at a time on the sheet instead of like today when it's a package with several(sometimes non-related options to = a "package").

My 69 Burb is a "Custom/10" and it's listed on the SPID, but it has full rubber flooring... Maybe Burbs are different as far as this goes.

Re: what does the "custom" package consist of?

The Custom was the same mid-grade trim, same as the CustomDeluxe in 71/72.So you got allthe trim, but woodgrain, carpet, and the seat was custom cloth,no buckets available. It came with the lower tailgate trim strip,no band and lower belt moulding on a solid paint truck.

Re: what does the "custom" package consist of?

In my 1968 the C&C option included a full color keyed rubber mat, bright work
around windshield, vent frame & rear window, a cigar lighter,
full foam seat (also color keyed), cowl insulation,
bright interior knobs and full-depth arm rests.

It appears (according to my option sheet) that the cloth
interior was an add-on option:

Re: what does the "custom" package consist of?

In 1968 the Custom Comfort & Appearance Option (Z62) included the following:

"For chassis-cabs and pickups only; includes full depth foam seat with color-keyed fabric/vinyl trim; embossed vinyl door trim panels with bright upper retainers; RH & LH full-depth armrests; parking brake ratchet cover; cigar lighter; Chevrolet nameplate on dispatch box door; cowl insulation; full underbody sprayed mastic coating; bright metal windshield moldings, venti-pane frames, rear window molding, control knob inserts, "Custom" emblems. This option was not available when Custom Sport Truck Option or bucket seats are ordered..............................Z62"

Custom Side Moldings are option B98 and not included in the Z62 option.

Re: what does the "custom" package consist of?

I happened upon this link a while ago, lots of cool information about Chevy trucks throughout the years and they do go into quite a bit of detail about the 1967-1972 options packages near the bottom of the page.
