finally got it all lowered

well, after waiting for over 3 weeks for my drop springs from sport truck direct, (i wouldnt recommend them), i finally got it all lowered...the bottom of the fender trim sits down on the lip of the tires the same, maybe an inch or so front and back

to get the stance just about right, i ended up going with:

front:
western chassis 2.5" spindles
western chassis 2.5" springs

back:
western chassis flip kit (they say 5", but its actually 6")

wheels are 20" C-5 polished Coys from www.coyswheel.com
rears are 20x10 with 5.5 bs
fronts are 20x8.5 with 5 1/4 bs

i have a good 3" of "safe travel" before my bed would ever hit the rear end...three of us got in the bed and jumped on it (real scientific huh) and it was ok, so no more than i'll ever have in there, should be just fine

i moved the rear bumper in about 1.5", and that really helped!, its a new GM piece i got from classicparts.com for $145 shipped, and just used suburban outer brackets, worked just fine

painted the front brake calipers with high temp engine spray bomb...turned out great (and cheap, $7)

now i just need to get a roll of side molding, and a tailgate bedliner cover...eventually i'll get a checker-pro hard tonneau cover...getting the front end lined up next week

Re: finally got it all lowered

thanks for the comps guys....aint nothin next...this thing has literally "nickel'd and dimed" me to pieces

i had someone pm me regarding the total costs of lowering the truck:

coys-$2,050 shipped (come toyo's mounted/balanced, fronts are 255/40's, rear's are 295/40's)

lowering components all come from sport truck direct
spindles 229.95 / pair
springs $119.95/pr
flip kit (2104): $79.95
Doetsch Tech Shocks 44.95 x 4= 179.80
----------------------------------------------------
total: $2,659.65+ sport truck directs outrageous shipping charges

plus, there's always a bunch of other crap ya dont think of when lowering, new bearings, tie rods,...etc...i ended up needing new rear brake drums, wheel cylinders, front rotors, front brake calipers, etc..

yeah man, new u-bolts and plates...the plates are actually powdercoated grey...very nice stuff for the money...i love the western chassis stuff, but like i said, i wouldnt recommend getting the wc stuff from sport truck direct though....they screwed up (2) orders of mine, and on the last order, they took over 3 weeks to get me my darn springs

Re: finally got it all lowered

Hey Big, with your flip kit, were the supplied U-bolts actually the right size for your differential? The last 2 flip kits I purchased were sent with the incorrect size u-bolts.

Truck looks GREAT by the way!

Who says you need bags to be cool and look cool?

yeah, the u bolts were the correct size, the quality is very very good on the wc flip kits...and the plates they give you are very thick and also powdercoated

thanks for the comps Jeff!

That is exactly why. Some do like it and some don't. I personally am in the first group.

I have to agree, I like the newer grille/lights. They look great on lowered trucks.
