look in the driver's side door jam. it should be in the door jam by the windshield. that's where the vin tag on my 60 is

Re: 1960 gmc hidden vin

i think he is looking for a hidden vin #, like on the frame somewhere, because the one in the door jamb is missing. Sorry, but I don't know where it is on these models. If I remember correctly, my '59 had it on the driver's frame horn. I might be confusing that with another truck, so I could be wrong.

Re: 1960 gmc hidden vin

I found this on the 6066 GMC site:

1960-1963 had the tag on the front or "A" post. If the tag is not here, you should see two rivet holes were it was removed or fell off. Not all truck will have the tag in these locations, but most will.

Suburbans & Panels may be found on the front or top of the drives door frame, and some may be on the kick panel by the ratings tag. These numbers can also be found stamped on the Top of the left frame rail in two places, on in the engine bay and the other under the cab. They may be covered over in dirt. If no tag is found, the number is also stamped on the TOP of the left frame rail, in the engine bay and also under the cab. The number under the cab is the hardest to see.

Re: 1960 gmc hidden vin

I have the frame from a '60 GMC 4x4 Suburban that has absolutely no numbers on it. I don't know if it just somehow got forgotten at the factory or what. Hopefully the one you're looking at isn't like that one. As posted above the numbers should be on the drivers side frame beside the engine. That is usually the easiest one to find. Good luck.
