I have a vintage air. Had to modify the dash for the vents. Instructions were excellent. I like it. Works great. I don't have any experience with the old air systems.

I finished my Vintage Air install a couple weeks ago...love it. VA is also a heater. My 72 is not a factory A/C truck but I used factory style vents and controls. Install instructions were easy and VA has great tech support. Bought thru board vendor Laid back Recreations, plus VA is made in San Antonio.
If I did again I would probably use the lower compressor mount. VA has two different designs.

I have my 2nd VA system. I like it a lot. I have an Old Air system for my next project. I have looked at the wiring instructions and the power comes off of the fusebox which is what I believe VA had done in the past. They changed to a block coming off of the battery. I might rewire it to be like the VA kit.

I have old air and so far so good. If I did another though I would use vintage. Their install seem a bit cleaner under the hood and their instructions seem better...

My truck has had a VA system since 2006 (see link in signature.) I installed one in my 65 Mustang last spring as well.

I put an old air products underdash unit in my 67 works greats looks cool but for a neat clean insttall vintage. Air is the best , I wanted the old air unnit cause it looks oldschool !

I just looked at southern air's website and their kits look nice except for the temperature control box. However for 500 u can get all essentials for the ls swap if u already have the ac pump on ur donor. Also I didn't see any bulkhead brackets for the firewall but that is a easy fix they are like 40 bucks on ebay. All and all it looks like a good set up and who doesn't like American made!!!!
