to Hydroboost, or vacuum boost? That is the question....

I have a 63 C20 that I am installing a crossmember from a 72 C20 with front discs. I was planing on using a vacuum booster from a 75 C10, but remembered I have a Hydroboost off a 80's I think Van that had a diesel.
I would likely still swap the master cyl off of a 70's chevy, but am wondering what your experiences are with the hydraulic unit, and if its worth the trouble, altho it doesn't seem to be too tuff, especially if I get the add on bracket from CaptFab.

I'm planning on this shortly myself. You cant argue with somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000psi pressure for braking IMO, IIRC.

Hydroboost is really easy to set up and you dont have to worry about loosing vacuum.

Vacuum boost is easier, but it really depends on your cam size on how much vacuum your motor pulls. Too much and you have to use pumps and other stuff for it to work.

So my opinion, just send me the hydrobooster so I can use it on mine.

I have used one in my 64 4 x 4 for the last 19 years. quite happy with it

If I had my way I'd go Hydroboost all the way.

Vacuum boosters put out between 1,000-1,600 lbs of pressure to your brake system. The hydroboost puts out between 2,400-3000 lbs of pressure to your brake system. This is basically giving you the power to stop the vehicle. It's the actual clamping pressure your calipers or wheel cylinders have to clinch onto the rotor/drum.

Its on a Jeep, but the installation couldn't be much different for these old trucks.
